Colt Clark and the Quarantine Kids’ Touching Beatles Rewind

The music starts, and Colt Clark and the Quarantine Kids are back with a Beatles favorite. The surprise comes later: this isn’t one performance of “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da,” but two, with the family’s newer rendition followed by the version they shared in April 2020.

It’s a special Beatles Wednesday as the Clarks approach one year of sharing songs with viewers. This was the first Beatles song they played for their audience, which makes it a fitting choice for their rewind.

The video opens with the family’s newer performance of The Beatles’ “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”. They let the song play before bringing back the earlier recording. For Music Pulse readers, the fun is in hearing the family share the same song again, nearly a year after that first Beatles Wednesday.

Then comes the April 2020 video. A cheerful introduction sets it up: “Hey guys, it’s us again, and we’re going to play a song called ‘Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da’ by the Beatles. The family behind the songs

Colt is a professional musician, and Aubree, the mom behind the camera, is a photographer. They homeschool their three children. During their time at home, the family began learning a new song every other day, recording the performances, and sharing them.

That makes the rewind more than a repeat of a familiar tune. The newer performance comes first, then the recording of the first Beatles song they ever played for viewers. Fans who enjoy hearing families take on Beatles classics can also watch The Petersens’ bluegrass cover of “Here Comes the Sun”.

“Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” was there near the beginning of the Clark family’s shared performances. Hearing them play it again, then returning to that April 2020 introduction, gives this Beatles Wednesday its touching rewind.
